Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 23, 2026

Prose is built around a single privacy commitment: your writing stays on your device.

Data we collect

None. Prose does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or otherwise process any personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-ins, no cloud sync, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs that observe your behavior.

Where your notes live

All notes you create in Prose are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. Apple's standard device encryption protects them at rest. They never leave your device.

The readability grade and the writing highlights are calculated on your device as you type. Your text is never sent anywhere to be analyzed.

Backups

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your iPhone, your encrypted device backup may include Prose's local data, the same way it includes other app data. Prose itself does not interact with iCloud or any other server.

Deletion

Delete the app to delete all data Prose has ever stored. There is nothing left on any server because Prose has never sent anything to one.

Children

Prose does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
